Explain the principles of the following input devices in detail:

 (i) mouse (ii) tablets (iii) light pen

If a TV screen has 525 scan lines and an aspect ratio of 3:4 and if each pixel contains 8 bits worth of intensity information, how many bits per second are required to show 30 frames each second?

 Q2 ( a ) Obtain the instance transformation matrix required for deriving fig. B from fig. A. Fig A is described by three verities A(2,1), B(4,1), C(3,2) and fig. B is described by vertices A(-4,-2), B(-2,-2), C(-3,-1). 8 ( b ) Illustrate various techniques of mapping 3D objects on a 2D graphics screen with the help of suitable figure. Also drive the suitable transformation matrices for the same. 7

 Q3 ( a ) What are "viewing transformations"? Differentiate between window and viewport transformations. 6 ( b ) Explain the working of Z-buffer algorithm. 6 ( c ) Wha is image sampling? 3

 Q4 ( a ) Explain the working of Sutherland Hodgman algorithm for polygon clipping with the help of a suitable example. 6 ( b ) Generate a line y=2x + 10 using Bressenham's line generation algorithm. 6 ( c ) Explain in brief physical device coordinate system and normalized device coordinate system. 3

 Q5 ( a ) Find the general form of the matrix for reflection about a line 'L' with slope 'm' and y intercept (0,6). 6 ( b ) Describe the working principle of raster refresh display tube. how are different grey levels incorporated in it. 5 ( c ) Give and explain the pseudo code for the basic ray tracing algorithm. 4

 Q6 ( a ) Explain the basic characteristics of light in terms of luminance, hue and saturation. Also develop Phong's model for reflection of light from object surfaces to the user's eye. 6 ( b ) Define fractals? how are they classified? Give the methodology for subdividing the objects with Euclidian dimensions. 5 ( c ) Compare and contrast the TIFF file formats, with the RIFF formats. 4
